Viper Trident

Viper Trident

The Viper Trident metal detector is fashioned after detectors that cost hundreds of dollars more. With advantages both in and out of the water, the Viper allows you to do it all! It’s all-terrain and all-purpose!

The model we’re featuring comes standard with a 10” neutral buoyancy, concentric searchcoil. This high energy searchcoil is perfect for beaches, giving you maximum depth – Be prepared to dig deep! Because this metal detector can be safely submerged to 132 ft. underwater, you can take the entire detector – searchcoil, rod, control box and headphones – into the water with no adverse effects on your machine or its operation!

As a new addition to the Cobra metal detector family, the Viper has exclusive features that are absolutely necessary for treasure hunting. Automatic tuning and ground balance allow you to literally use this metal detector anywhere. And the full-range discriminator will ignore more of the trash that litters beaches and parks – giving you more time to find the lost jewelry and coins!

Not only is it the most affordable submersible machine on the market, it is also one of the easiest to use! With two easy-to-tune controls and factory recommended starting positions, it is extremely automatic.

To use: Turn it on using the upper-left knob and continue turning it to adjust its sensitivity. Adjust the discrimination knob in the upper-right to tune out trash. Lower the searchcoil 1-2” above the ground and wait for both the sound of treasure and the Target Light to indicate something is buried below! The bright target light is well placed on the control panel to help you locate treasures not only with the audio signal, but visually as well!

Submersible headphones come hardwired to the Viper metal detector, and its circuitry is sealed in a cylindrically shaped main control unit with dual, o-ring, water-tight housing. All external controls feature two o-ring seals to keep water out – even under the most intense pressure!

The Viper operates at 12.5kHz frequency for exceptional depth and requires only one 9 volt battery. The aluminum rods are powder coated to eliminate erosion and is fully adjustable with a cam-lock. The maximum extended length is 46” – minimum length (best for diving) is 40” and it weighs 4.2lbs.

The detector i am currently using is a Viper Trident.

So far it has performed just as the advertisement said it would. It works equally well in heavier soils around abandoned homesteads that we hunt here in the Midwest as it does in some of the sandier high desert country areas of Colorado. It will pinpoint older coins, old latch works off of cabin doors and windows, and lost jewelry on the beach.

It is very easy to dial in and for most applications the factory settings work just fine. The viper trident is a unit that the novice as well as the experienced treasure hunter would be comfortable with. Battery life is acceptable and the attached earphones are quite comfortable. I acquired this unit in the spring of 07 and immediately went to work on some of the public parks around my area.

It is amazing what you will discover when you start looking into the ground. Along with the usual number of old discarded aluminum cans i have unearthed an assortment of coins of all denominations and three different nationalities, a couple of pocket knives, a 1957 high school class ring, and enough old nails and screws to fill a five gallon bucket.

In the water it is much more affective than dragging a magnet through the muck. We have a lot of high use public fishing sites within 20 miles of the house and the underwater capabilities of the unit are just one more reason to get out. With the aid of a snorkel mask and fins you can probe the shallows around the launching sites and docks and bridges. People lose as much stuff if not more in the water.

I am going to have to start going south or southwest in the winter so i can get my fix of treasure hunting instead of waiting for the ground to thaw and the snow to melt.

I purchased a Viper Trident land and water metal detector from Kellyco about three-four years ago. It is a water and land metal detector. It is a good detector but at some point I would like to upgrade it. I would like something a bit lighter weight and one that shows what is under you like coins or silver or gold. I would like another land or water detector though.

I am very glad the Viper Trident can be used for under water detecting as well as on land because I live in Hawaii! There are many places to go metal detecting here in Hawaii because there is plenty of water and land! Kellyco has very fast and efficient service. They are a great company! They have many metal detectors to choose from, also many accessories and a treasure of information about them all!!!!

I was also very happy with the Kellyco company for the support they offer if there are any problems. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoy my metal detector and I enjoy searching for coins and jewelry.

There are many tourists that come and go here in Hawaii at the beaches and in and out of the water, so there are many opportunities for loose change and jewelry to find their way into the range of my metal detector! I also find that metal detecting is a great way to get exercise. Metal detecting also gives me a way to meet new people and is quite the conversation piece! Since the price of gold has risen so high, I am very excited at the possibilities of what treasures I might find and what they may be worth!

I would recommend Kellyco company to anyone who might be interested in metal detecting from beginners to the most experienced!

I found the Viper very easy to use for my very first metal detector. I went with the Viper so I could take it in the water. I figured that most of the lakes and recreational parks that have swimming would be a great place to start. I'm hoping that not very many people would be out in the water detecting as well. So it would give me more places for treasure hunting. I have it set to pick up any metal object. I want to get a feel for it and work on pin pointing.
So, needless to say, I have started on a very large bottle cap collection, 15 cents (in pennies and a dime), and a stainless steal pocket knife from Winchester (which I like very much). I haven't taken my Viper under water yet. It is still too cold but come summer, it'll give me something else to do while we're out at the lake. So far, I would recommend the detector but that is without the knowledge of how it works in the water.

I have used this machine for about a year and finally have enough hours with it to form a reasonable opinion. The price is very attractive, you get what you pay for, I live in the northeast and found that the Viper is not very suited for wet sand and as far as underwater, I don't think it would survive submersion let alone locate any metal. As far as dry sand goes, it works great. It is good for puttering with clad coins and such. I would advise newbies to really do their homework, research, join a club, borrow or rent different machines before laying out any cash, save your money and purchase the best machine you can afford.

The detector was easy to tune. Discrimination is not a problem with this machine. My personal interest is coin and jewelry detecting. This detector is outstanding for its price. I have actually been finding silver coins and wheat pennies. My best find is a 24kt gold ring.

I bought this detector as "refurbished," and found coins and rings up to 10 inches deep on beach sand. One of the gold rings I found had a 1.5ct diamond solitaire-poor tourist who lost it. I had it appraised and is a VS1, F color. This is unbelievable. I'm hooked! I was worried cause when I ordered it I didn't read all the negative reviews about this detector. Now that I see how great it works I can't help but think that all the people bashing this unit are this detectors competitors trying not to lose their market share with the overpriced products they are pushing on consumers.
