Minelab Excalibur II with 10 Inch Coil

Minelab Excalibur II with 10 Inch Coil

This powerful, intelligent metal detector will help you find treasures that have been both lost and missed by the generations before you either on land or 200ft. under the sea! The Excalibur II we're featuring comes with a powerful 10" searchcoil and state of the art submersible headphones.

This Minelab Excalibur II comes with a 10" Double 'D' coil that contains two 'D' shaped windings and is perfect for locating deep targets. The Double 'D' coil provides you with a detection pattern as you search that is "blade like" and is sensitive from tip to heel. This searchcoil is versatile and deep-seeking, making it effective for any type of detecting.

Because the Excalibur II was meant to be submersible, you can take this coil and the entire detector into 200 feet of water without any adverse affects - this means the possibilities of finding treasure are almost limitless!

Possibly the most impressive aspect of the Excalibur II may not be its capacity to go 200ft. under water, but its 17 frequencies. This is possible thanks to the BBS (Broad Band Spectrum) technology. Find thin gold nuggets and delicate jewelry other detectors miss, while ignoring hot rocks, salt, terra cotta and overall changing ground conditions.

The Excalibur's 17 frequencies literally provide an "Iron Mask" feature that allows you to reject iron, yet still detect good, valuable treasure scattered among it. The range of the Excalibur's transmission is from 1.5 kHz to 25.5 kHz (done in 1.5 kHz increments). All 17 frequencies are transmitted together at one time, operating simultaneously with multiple tone responses.

Thankfully these multiple, simultaneous frequencies are easy-to-use and understand. Just like a single frequency detector, you turn on the Excalibur II, set the controls between operating modes, and start your treasure hunt. The Excalibur II will do the majority of the work by interpreting target signals, removing ground mineralization interference and analyzing the remaining signal. The only sound you'll hear is the one indicating you've found treasure!

There are two operating modes on the Excalibur II - "Discriminate" mode and "Pinpoint" mode. While these modes seem simple in theory, we're sure you'll find them both to be quite powerful. Simply set the controls to your desired position depending on your location and what your desired treasure is and go! For each type of treasure you find a different tone will signal. After a little bit of practice we're confident you'll know exactly what you've found before you dig for it.

Minelab Excalibur II Metal Detector

The unique design of the 17 frequency Excalibur allows you to use it as effectively in or out of the water. The Excalibur II has an 10 inch search coil, differentiating it from the Excalibur II. Fully Submersible to 200 feet. Not 1 or Even 2 Frequencies, but 17 Frequencies transmitting and finding more coins, rings, and treasures....deeper than ever! Ever since the first metal detector was produced, all detectors have used a single frequency by the manufacturer as the "best frequency" for detecting. Multiple Frequency detectors are simple to operate-as easy, if not easier to use than single frequency detectors. Turn it on, set the controls, and start searching for coins and treasures.

I like the water so the Excalibur series and Fisher's CZ20 are my favorite detectors. I am just getting used to the Excalibur but the Fisher products have found most of my finds.

I scuba dive, so I have to have a submersible detector. Diving for coins and rings is what I like to do best, but I'm thinking about Garrett's Infinium LS and also slide nugget hunting in to my fortes. I like what works and gets results, so I'm not manufacturer specific, but a good name brand with good statistics and results helps decide my choice for purchases.

I would like to search for coins and other historical objects. I live in the Massachusetts area and have heard that there is alot of history in this area. I would love to explore and find items that others could enjoy to fill some of the voids in this gap of the New England history. This would provide others with the sense and feel of attempting to engage in hunting. It would become very relaxing along with filling a void in anothers life as to what they need to explore as a hobby.

I have been detecting for 16 years now. I don't know what drew me to metal detecting other than seeing a detector displayed in a store near my home. I lived near the river at the time and thought that would be a fun thing to do.

While I was in the store I met a man who said there is a detecting club in your hometown and I decided to join the club. I met a guy there that had an Excalibur and he said it was a great machine and let me try his at the beaches here in N.J.

I liked the way it performed and how it went very deep for targets. It sure outshined all the detectors that I have ever used and so far have ever used. I like the way the tones are different to let you know what you are digging before you even dig the target. The main thing that I like about this machine is it's ease of use.

I also love the way it glides through the water during my suf hunts. I have found many coins from shipwrecked coins to the common clad coins and have made some exceptional jewelry finds and this machine has paid for itself over and over again. I actually own 3 Excaliburs.

I have one as a back up and my son uses the other one. So you can see that we are a Minelab family! In my opinion there technology is by far the best out there. This detector is the only one that I would recommend for beach and surf hunting. So grab yourself a Minelab Excalibur and get out there and find your own treasures!

About one year ago, I purchased the Minelab Excalibur 1000 from Kellyco. I detected the local swimming areas near my home. I did not keep track of the coins found, however at the end of the summer I sent most, but not all the gold and silver jewelry I found to one of the refineries. In turn, I received a check for just fewer than eighteen hundred dollars!

This easily paid for the machine. I was sharing these swimming areas with three other detectorists and out performed all of them. Two were using Fishers and one was using a Whites. One of the folks using a Fisher scoffed at my purchase at first, however he ordered an Excalibur within three weeks of seeing my results. The clincher for him was a small gold stud earring I found in about six or seven inches of sand and clay. He asked to see how his machine read the earring. The results were that he could not get a reading at all from the earring.

Also, the other detectorists were always digging up hair clips and bottle caps that I passed right over and did not dig because I knew what they were. I have been detecting for forty two years and this was my first under water machine. I feel I am still learning the Excalibur and yet I was able to out perform all of the other detectorists.

I am planning a trip this summer to Costa Rica and cannot wait to see what those wonderful beaches provide. I will have ten days to two weeks to find out. Thank you!

I have been metal detecting off and on for 40 years and have used a number of different detectors during that time. Six months ago I decided to get a Minelab Excalibur for ocean beach and water hunting.

Most detectors use only one or two frequencies in the circuitry where the Excalibur uses 17 frequencies to better determine target identity, help eliminate reaction to wet sand and salt water and get better depth.

Many of the detectors that I have used have had a metering system of some sort which gave information on target identity and depth. The Excalibur does not have a meter and relies on audio tones for target identification. It takes a good amount of practice to be able to recognize the sounds of good targets as opposed to sounds of trash and I have not mastered this yet.

The controls are simple and straightforward to use. There are five knobs and once they are initially set for use, only two have to be used for most hunting situations. The first knob is for switching from discrimination mode to all-metal mode for pin pointing or relic hunting. The second knob is the on - off switch and audio threshold control. The third is to set the audio volume of the target signal. Knob four sets the sensitivity of the detector, which in most cases can be left in the Auto mode but can be turned to manually reduce sensitivity. The last knob is used to set the discrimination level. In most beach hunting , the lowest setting will be needed to blank out iron objects and still give signals for non-ferrous targets.

Once the detector is set up you only need to turn it on , set the threshold with one knob and hunt. When a target is located then the pinpoint knob is used if needed to locate the object.

In the short time that I have used the Excalibur over the past six months I do not have much more than a good number of modern coins to show for my time. I have not had an opportunity to get into the surf where all the "good stuff" is.

I must admit that I could not believe how deep I had to dig to find many targets and that I even got annoyed because I had to dig so deep while the waves were washing sand back into my hole. I talked to other Excalibur users on the beach and they all commented on the great depth the Minelab has over other detectors. For ease of use and great depth of targets, I would rate the Excalibur as a 5!

The Excalibur is still one of the best beach/water detectors I have used. It has found over 1000.00 in coin and about 1900.00 in gold over it's 5 year life span. The detector has functioned well and has only required one maintance repair.

It is best used with a "hip" mount which reduces its cross section in the water and its weight on the arm on the shore. The smaller coil provides the user with less resistance in the water and less weight on the shore. The difference between the larger coil and the smaller coil is neglible. So pick the one you thing you will be able to live with.

One suggestion. The standard rechargeable battery pack is good, but does not hold charge very well and a few years of use. You can have it "re-celled" with metal hybrid cells at a battery service center such as battery plus. The metal hybrid cells do not develop a memory and will hold a charge two to three times longer than the standard rechargeable cells. Also the increased power will allow better detecting levels. I classically go for finding coins on the beach but also when temps allow will go into the water. This seems to be where more gold and jewelry isl lost.

The proof that the Minelab Excalibur series is the best underwater/submersible detector is that it is still being made and sold; in fact it is sold at a higher price than originally. It takes some time to get used to the different sounds linked to different targets but once you are used to it you can't go back to a visual-only type of detector.

I use my Minelab for all types of hunting; relics, coins, parks, ponds, rivers, beaches. When hunting on dry land it gives me the assurance that if it starts raining I don't have to worry, well except myself getting soaked but since when do you stop metal detecting because is raining? I have actually being chased away from a beach in the middle of a storm because the lightening was getting too close and the life guards thought the detector might act as a lightening rod.

I own my detector for about 10 years but because of my work schedule and commute time (about 2 hours each way every day) I don't have the equivalent experience. I consider myself intermediate with about 4 years of experience. In all this time I had to buy 1 battery and had to change the cable from the battery to the unit once. It was probably my fault for packing it in my luggage for trips whenever I get a chance. I am now on the lookout for another unit to always have a backup.

I do own other detectors (White's, Bounty Hunter, Garret) but my favorite and the workhorse is my Minelab.

I got my Excalibur at Kellyco about 5 years ago and have not wanted another detector.

It works just as well on land as it does in the water. The first time i took it out to the beach i found a womans wedding band that had two diamonds in it. The next time i used it at the same beach i found a 14k mens ring with a 1/4 ct diamond in it. It paid for the detector. I have found thousands of coins and alot of gold jewelry. On land i have hunted alot of early sites and have found quite a collection of coins and artifacts. The depth is really good on land and in the water. No problems with the ground being iron or salt or fresh water. I recommend it for some one that is either just getting into treasure hunting or someone who has been in it a long time.

The only complaint if you would call it is that the Excalibur goes too deep. I have dug holes in the bottom that are about 3 ft deep and about 2 ft deep and came up with a 50 cal shell from the second world war that the beach was used for straffing practice. It is simple to operate and easy to learn the tones that the good stuff gives off. It will find the smallest earring back or a diamond stud just as easy. I did have to send it back for a repair on the headset wire but it was a real quick turnaround and the people are super to work with. Again i recommend the Excalibur 800 completely.

Hi, I recently purchased my Excalibur II and I have to say that it is truly a perfect machine for the beach and water hunting I do.

It took me about a week to begin to distinguish the different signature tones for the Excalibur but, in about 2 and a half weeks I have already found a nice gold ring and an assortment of lovely .925 silver jewelry.

I really like the ease of the turn on and go nature of the Excalibur. I simply tune the threshold and leave my other dials set from my last successful hunt and I'm off.

I do wish however that this machine had some sort of battery gauge, as it is hard as a new detectorist to know just how much of the battery I have used up. I have just taken to charging the battery overnight before a big hunting day and that seems to work fine.

I bought a second detector shortly after this one so that I could have an extra for friends to go with me (Ace 250) and even though the Ace is a great machine, I'll never give up the Excalibur II. Once you learn to "hear" what it's telling you, its all to easy to determine your targets.
