This Minelab Excalibur II comes with a 10" Double 'D' coil that contains two 'D' shaped windings and is perfect for locating deep targets. The Double 'D' coil provides you with a detection pattern as you search that is "blade like" and is sensitive from tip to heel. This searchcoil is versatile and deep-seeking, making it effective for any type of detecting.
Because the Excalibur II was meant to be submersible, you can take this coil and the entire detector into 200 feet of water without any adverse affects - this means the possibilities of finding treasure are almost limitless!
Possibly the most impressive aspect of the Excalibur II may not be its capacity to go 200ft. under water, but its 17 frequencies. This is possible thanks to the BBS (Broad Band Spectrum) technology. The Excalibur's 17 frequencies literally provide an "Iron Mask" feature that allows you to reject iron, yet still detect good, valuable treasure scattered among it. The range of the Excalibur's transmission is from 1.5 kHz to 25.5 kHz (done in 1.5 kHz increments). All 17 frequencies are transmitted together at one time, operating simultaneously with multiple tone responses.
Thankfully these multiple, simultaneous frequencies are easy-to-use and understand. Just like a single frequency detector, you turn on the Excalibur II, set the controls between operating modes, and start your treasure hunt. The Excalibur II will do the majority of the work by interpreting target signals, removing ground mineralization interference and analyzing the remaining signal. There are two operating modes on the Excalibur II - "Discriminate" mode and "Pinpoint" mode. While these modes seem simple in theory, we're sure you'll find them both to be quite powerful. Simply set the controls to your desired position depending on your location and what your desired treasure is and go! For each type of treasure you find a different tone will signal. After a little bit of practice we're confident you'll know exactly what you've found before you dig for it.

To use: Turn it on using the upper-left knob and continue turning it to adjust its sensitivity. Adjust the discrimination knob in the upper-right to tune out trash. Lower the searchcoil 1-2” above the ground and wait for both the sound of treasure and the Target Light to indicate something is buried below! The bright target light is well placed on the control panel to help you locate treasures not only with the audio signal, but visually as well!
Submersible headphones come hardwired to the Viper metal detector, and its circuitry is sealed in a cylindrically shaped main control unit with dual, o-ring, water-tight housing. All external controls feature two o-ring seals to keep water out – even under the most intense pressure!
The Viper operates at 12.5kHz frequency for exceptional depth and requires only one 9 volt battery. The aluminum rods are powder coated to eliminate erosion and is fully adjustable with a cam-lock. The maximum extended length is 46” – minimum length (best for diving) is 40” and it weighs 4.2lbs.
